Description

Sophie 18th century mules are the perfect slippers for your Georgian-era impressions. Correct for c. 1760s - 1790s, these adorable little backless mules work wonderfully for both working and upper class, with short 1.75" / 4.45 cm French heel, a shaped vamp, and softly tapered toe.

Made in durable leather, the Sophie mules can be worn both indoors and outdoors and are easily slipped on or off when fully dressed - no bending down to fasten buckles or ties. Despite the slipper design, the real leather lining in our Sophie 18th century mules keeps them securely on your feet.

A joy to wear

Ordered the same size as for normal AD shoes and it worked well. They have been in daily use and stay nicely on the foot.

beautiful shoes!

My Sophies just arrived, and first off, I was surprised at how quickly my order came in, especially given that it included multiple items. These shoes are beautiful, excellent quality; the leather is so soft!

Even though my feet are wide, the Sophies fit in my regular size--actually, I almost wish I'd ordered down a half-size since these are backless (something I'm not used to in any of my shoes): the toebox is very comfortable, and they feel like ma-a-aybe they'll slip off, but they don't (I might not use these for dancing, at least not without tying them on somehow).

I didn't realized until trying them on next to my Dunmores, just how much lower the vamp is. It shows in the website photos, but for me it just didn't register until the shoes were on my feet. Again, they fit fine, and if I ever get some fancy clocked stockings these will really show off the design.

The only disappointment is probably the fault of my monitor settings: on my screen the green looks like a vibrant apple green, maybe one shade darker than the green Dunmores, but my pair is more of a dark olive green. Ironically, it matches a little better to most of my gowns, but definitely is a more sober, practical color versus the eye-catching frivolous shade I'd expected.

Overall, I'm very happy with my new shoes, and can't wait for some events to wear them!
